Thank you for enquiry, please note the statement which was released 05:30 28th June

UPDATE: July into August and beyond.
We have received the new protocols for the safe reopening of the cottages and look forward to welcoming you back to Finsbay Cottages when the time is right, however that is not now I’m afraid. We had looked through all the options for the safe reopening of them, but had already written off season 2020 looking forward to reopening for 2021. This position has not changed.
As was reported recently on the BBC News site, we have been very fortunate to have only had 8 cases on the island and we need to move carefully into reopening, and only when the island is ready.
"The islands aren't just a holiday destination, they are our home and our home is made up of communities of people, and a lot of those people are elderly and vulnerable.
"We need to protect them and if that means being careful and cautious about how we open up then that's what we must do."
NHS Western Isles chief executive Gordon Jamieson says this has been thanks to lockdown restrictions and islanders' "high level" of compliance to social distancing guidance.
He adds: "For us as a small island community and a small island health board then our system is possibly a bit more fragile.
"In terms of if we were to see a sudden increase in cases then it would be quite challenging for the health service to be able to respond."
CalMac will be operating on a reduced timetable and capacity so ferry bookings are not guaranteed. We also need to ensure the safe changeover cleaning and sanitisation of all surfaces and furniture which includes the steaming of all furniture once the general clean and disinfecting has been done. We will be providing sanitiser at the cottages so that safe entry can be made. Because of the dangers of pillows and duvets harbouring any virus, we had looked at the option of returning to the “old ways” of getting guests to bring their own bedding, however looking at some of the cars that arrive normally, getting enough bedding to furnish up to 6 beds wouldn’t leave much room for the occupants never mind their clothing and fishing gear.
We propose therefore to have multiple bed sets of pillows and duvets, so that a fresh sanitised set is on the bed at the start of your holiday and the others are being brought up to standard. Our outsourced cleaning company is already looking for more staff as it will take longer to do a changeover with the added workload and that means they will need more staff to cope with the normal changeover days. We will also be adhering to the 7 days bookings, with Inver on a Saturday, Arran on a Thursday and Coll on a Friday. Because we have already moved some shorter and multiple occupancy bookings from 2020 to 2021 there may be some full weeks which are not available.
There had been talk of having fallow days between bookings, however this has not materialised at present. We are trying not to have to ask you to arrive later than 4pm and leave earlier than 10am to give us more than the normal 6 hours, but we will have these changes sorted ready for 2021 season or earlier if the island can stand it. We look forward to welcoming you to Harris at that time, we are taking PROVISIONAL bookings for 2021 now. £staysafe everyone.
Best regards

  The FINSBAY FISHING exist of:

System I: Huamavat System, Sea pool with Loch Holmasaig and Loch Dempster fishing from bank or with one boat on each loch. Loch Huamavat with three boats, this is the most frequently fished and hence the most successful loch, which is truly a marvellous place to fish for salmon, sea trout and brown trout. All lochs with good access from the road. There are many hill lochs with sea trout, occasional salmon and small brownies.  All lochs have sizeable ferox. The biggest hill loch, Loch Rogavat (one boat) is about 40 minutes walk. After 90 minutes walk you can reach the highest, very seldom fished, hill loch with very red brownies.

System II:  Abahain na Cyste System. Unique Sea Pool beside the road. Successful for salmon and very good for sea trout, best fished when the tide comes in. Loch Meurach one and two (Loch M two has one boat) and Loch Clachain are about 20 minutes walk. After 40 minutes walk you will find many hill lochs with the possibility to catch sea trout, salmon and brownies.

System I:  In Loch Flodabay there are occasionally sea trout and brownies. Loch Tarbert and Dornail contain brown trout up to 4 lb and you can reach there after 5 minutes walk from the road. In Loch Creig na Briste (25 minutes walk) are small brownies, Sea Trout and occasionally salmon. There are amazing hill lochs about 30 minutes walk with brownies up to 3 lb. Loch na Choar holds salmon and sea trout.
System II:  After 10 minutes walk you will pass Loch Vanish or Clachain and 10 minutes later you will reach Loch Manish with sea trout, Arctic Char, occasionally salmon and brownies.
  System I :
Loch Saile is a tidal pool beside the road with one boat. Small and big Loch Creavat are in 15 minutes walk (big Loch Creavat has one boat). All lochs contain brownies and occasionally salmon and sea trout.
System II:
Most lochs are beside the road or are in maximum 15 minutes walk. Loch Glumra beg has one boat. All loch contain brownies. Salmon and sea trout occasionally.
Seafishing can arranged with prior notice
