OUR DOGS We have two small dogs. They have free access all over our property and land and are very friendly to visitors so will probably come and say hello when you arrive, but then you will probably not see them much as they have habits of sleeping rather a lot in our house during the day. Please don't feed them - they get fat.. This is why we say 'no dogs' in our literature.
Prices: There is an additional Cleaning Fee of £20 for booking of 3 days or less.
Janey, Tony, Bumble and Fluff (the dogs) made us very welcome. Despite only staying two nights they kindly provided us with wine, bread, butter, milk and fresh eggs. As well as all the staples that you don't want to take with you (oil, condiments etc). The accommodation is lovely and the surrounding area is gorgeous, ducks on the lake, chickens and sheep in the fields and beautiful views. They also had some new fish delivered for the lake whilst we were there. It was perfect for us and our 2.5yr old twins. Tescos a 5 mins drive away and we also had a lovely Thai take away from 'Thai Kitchen'. We hope to return for a longer stay sometime to do some of the gorgeous surrounding walks.
We had a really lovely time at income farm. The cottage has an amazing view and a very relaxing setting. We did a day trip to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door which was about a 40min drive but worth it. Janey was a lovely host, perfect in every way leaving us milk, eggs and even wine for our stay. All in all a perfect trip
Great place and great host. Janey made us feel very welcome, her communication was excellent and she was extremely accommodating - making space for travel cots etc. She went the extra mile making sure we had everything we needed. The position and setting are lovely and the accommodation is well appointed with comfy bedrooms and everything you need to cook a meal. I would wholeheartedly recommend a stay at Lakeside Cottage.
Our group of four had a great stay at Lakeside Cottage. Janey made us feel very welcome as we trudged in a little late on a Friday night; the cottage was lovely and cosy, and Janey had stocked it generously with provisions. The cottage is wonderful - two large bedrooms and two fully-equipped bathrooms, and cosy living room with lots of comfortable seating as well as ideally-sized dining table. We managed to get out for a row on the lake in the late afternoon sunshine, and found ourselves repeatedly remarking on the idyllic surroundings, bountiful birdlife, etc. The cottage is very well located for an approx 3-mile walk out to Shaftesbury along hilly country lanes, and we followed up the next day with a great walk around Fontwell Magna, ending at the nearby airfield for lunch and fly-by entertainment. I'm sure there's plenty more walking, and other activities, in the area too.
Incombe Farm is a magical place - tranquil, beautiful and very private - while being only five minutes drive or an hour's walk from the charming and ancient market town of Shaftesbury. Janey is the perfect hostess, and we greatly appreciated the amenities waiting for us (milk, juice, eggs, bread, wine...). The small touches in the cottage make it feel like home. We are returning in a fortnight!
Me and my family had a wonderful stay at Incombe Farm. The cottage is very cosy with two large bedrooms and two bathrooms, and a cosy living room with comfortable seating and a good sized dining table. The cottage is in a very beautiful location and the views from the top of the hill were stunning. The location of the cottage was perfect for us to explore Jurassic coast and Bath. We would love to come back and definitely will recommend to friends. Thank you Janey for being a great host!
"We had a fabulous week. The peace of Pond Cottage was just what we were needing. Thank you so much for providing such a beautiful and wonderfully resourced stay and also for that extremely generous welcome pack. We enjoyed ALL of it and in particular the wonderful chutney and relish. I might need to search for a good recipe now. We're already missing Pond Cottage and the Dorset countryside. This was our first visit to Dorset but unlikely to be our last".
"I stayed with my husband and 2 year old daughter for 2 nights and we were made most welcome on our arrival and had a lovely, quiet and relaxing stay. The location was brilliant as it was a rural setting but only a 5 minute drive away from Shaftesbury with various pubs, restaurants and shops so you can choose to eat out or shop for food and cook at home. In the morning it was lovely to open the curtains and see how many different types of birds we could spot and I saw at least 3 I'd never seen before! We were also lucky enough to see deer and a badger during our stay. Thank you so much for a great stay".
"We had a lovely time there. She gave us a warm welcome and we felt at home immediately. I definitely recommend staying with her as we had a really comfortable stay. The view from the living room is stunning!!"
"Many thanks for our wonderful stay in your "little paradise". Pond Cottage is delightful and so very well equipped (even needle and thread!!). Our intention before arriving was to visit several places but found we were so relaxed and 'comfy' there, we only left it to eat out. Look forward to visiting again in the near future. (can't wait!)"
"We had a lovely 2 night stay. There was plenty of space for the 3 of us in the cottage and a warm welcome from our host. A great little welcome pack was also provided and appreciated. Everything was clean and very well presented and we didn't want for anything. We happen to know the area well, but there was a wealth of information in the folder that was provided. The area itself is rural and beautiful, but also a very quick drive into Shaftesbury (about 6-7 minutes). We also managed to book a taxi without a problem one night. All in all I would recommend staying at Pond Cottage. I imagine in the summer is is particularly stunning".
"She was a wonderful hostess and made us feel incredibly welcome as we arrived (late and tired). The cottage is set in an idyllic location with lovely views, easy access to the main roads (but far enough away that you don't notice them) and within a few minutes drive of the local amenities. Go for a walk at the top of the hill next to the cottage and you'll be blown away by the samszing views of the countryside. The cottage provided the ideal launchpad for us to explore the local area, and we loved coming back to 'our' cottage after a long day in the Dorset countryside. In fact, having gone into Shaftesbury and eaten at a local hotel, we felt suitably smug at having such a nice place to stay at a fraction of the cost. This cottage was perfect for us, secluded, warm, cosy and clean. Thanks for having us and hopefully we'll be back again soon"
"My wife, daughter and I stayed in Pond cottage in May and used it as a base to go to Peppa Pig world near Southampton.
The cottage was lovely; well equipped with everything we needed and set in a truly picturesque and wonderfully tranquil location. Our host was attentive and helpful and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to stay in. A hotel, or here is just a no brainer. Many thanks"
"We have had a lovely stay in the cottage, enjoying the beauty, figs, fishing, eggs and barbecues. We look forward to coming back sometime soon. M & J"
Thank you very much for the eggs from the chickens. We had a very nice stay in your lovely cottage".
We want to thank you for your hospitality during our stay in Pond Cottage. We greatly enjoyed the nice cottage and the wonderful surroundings, we loved the fresh eggs, and I in particular will miss the warm welcome by the dogs when we came back after a day out. Thanks again, and best wishes"
We had a wonderful stay at Pond Cottage. Janey is a most welcoming host from the very outset. The attention to details in the cottage is first rate, with fresh laid eggs, wine, fruit etc as well as large enveloping bath towels and comfortable beds and bathrooms It was a good base for our trips out and we enjoyed pottering round Shaftesbury as well as a glorious autumn visit to Stourhead. The cottage is so quiet and peaceful and we loved sitting by the lake watching the birds. Thank you Janey for your warm hospitality.
We had a lovely stay at Incombe Farm. We had everything we needed and everything was as described with the view over the lake really wonderful. We would definitely go back.
Hosts were excellent and technically is a beautiful little spot. The accommodation is perfect for exploring the local area or just relaxing by the pond. We will definitely be recommending this to friends and family and hopefully coning back again soon. The supplies on arrival are a really nice touch too and very appreciated.
Janey was very welcoming, and walked us round the cottage. There was a change of plan for us last minute and she was very accommodating. The cottage is just amazing- beautiful inside and the pond and countryside around it is just awesome. The kids had a great time exploring and rowing on the water. The place had everything we could possibly require- and a bottle of wine, bread and eggs and a few other bits were a lovely welcome. Could not highly recommend the place enough.
