Charming 16th century, spacious detached cottage, between Beer and Branscombe. Picket Mead, with its beamed ceilings and wood burning stove, is a traditional 16th century village cottage which has been sympathetically restored and modernised.
  • Adjacent to the church and in an area of outstanding beauty, it is just ten minutes drive from Beer and Branscombe and 20 minutes from Sidmouth and Lyme Regis.
  • Leaflets and booklets highlight places to visit, inns serving good food, and lovely local and cliff top walks.

 Accommodation
  • The spacious beamed sitting/dining room has four windows, a stone floor with rugs, wood burning stove, mix of modern and antique furniture, and TV with DVD.
  • The adjacent kitchen/dining room with beams and quarry coloured ceramic floor, has an electric cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, washing machine, ample work surfaces and dining for four/five.
  • There is an outside/downstairs WC.
  • The curved staircase leads to the landing/day room which has pretty views down the village lane and includes large fitted wardrobes.
  • All rooms on the first floor are painted white and have wooden floors.
  • The spacious main bedroom has two windows, double bed, bedside chests with lamps and easy chair. The second double bedroom is similarly furnished and looks over the garden. There is also a third single bedroom.
  • The partially tiled bathroom has bath with shower over, airing cupboard and velux window.
  • Storage heaters and electric space heaters provide alternative forms of heating and there is an immersion heater for hot water. The only extras are electricity and logs charged at cost and according to use.
  • The cottage is fully equipped with linen provided.
  • As the cottage dates from the 16th century, a portion of the sitting room ceiling and two door ways are quite low, but there is plenty of height everywhere else and lots of space.
Outside
  • The pretty, south facing garden has a central lawn bordered by a low wall with raised colourful flower beds.
  • A covered sitting area with table and chairs looks over the garden, which is bounded by a stone wall and fence with side gate, giving access to off road parking in the adjoining drive.
