Oakdene is ideally located to explore Orkney's heritage, museums, wildlife and visitor attractions. It is situated in an elevated position with an unrestricted view over Kirkwall town centre, which is a 5 min drive away by car. The house has ample private parking space. There is a walk /cycle path directly into town as well as a regular daily bus service passing the door.

Accommodation  
  • The sitting room is spacious and comfortably furnished.
  • The kitchen is fully fitted and there is a separate dining room.
  • The shower is level access with ample room to manoeuvre with a wheelchair.
  • Both downstairs bedrooms have walk-in wardrobe and shelf space.
  • Upstairs double bedroom has a wardrobe with full length mirror plus a drawer unit.
  • Upstairs twin room has small drawer unit with a mirror and a wardrobe. All bedrooms have bedside cabinets, bedside lights etc.
  • There is an upstairs landing/lounge with a comfortable seating area and TV. This is an excellent place for children to sit and play their computer games etc, read, relax or used as a separate lounge for a 2nd family.
  • There is a fold down double bed if required and a cot can be supplied on request.
  • Oil fire radiators throughout the house. Electricity, towels and bedding supplied.
  • A welcome pack will be supplied on arrival.
  • WiFi provided.
  • No pets.
  • No smoking.

Notes  
  • A non-refundable deposit of £100 to be paid on confirmation of booking, with the balance required one month prior to the booked date. Payment is required by cheque or bank transfer.
  • Accommodation is available for entry from 4pm on day of arrival and must be vacated no later than 10am on day of departure.
  • Arrival and departure day is a Saturday.
Location  
  • Within Kirkwall itself you can visit the magnificent St Magnus Cathedral, the Earl's and Bishop's Palaces and Tankerness House Museum and gardens. Kirkwall has many interesting local craft and jewelry shops as well as supermarkets, restaurants and pubs.
  • Also a short distance away from Oakdene stands the Pickaquoy Leisure Centre, which is recognised as a first class sports, art, conference and social facility, offering an excellent range of activities for all ages and abilities to enjoy. If you want to play a round of golf, Kirkwall golf club is on your doorstep.
  • Highland Park Distillery and the newly opened Scapa Distillery are well worth a visit.
  • The St Magnus International Festival in Kirkwall is an annual week-long arts event which takes place in June, while Stromness hosts the ever popular Folk Festival in May. Both these events, due to their popularity, have drawn visitors back to the islands many times.
  • Throughout Orkney there are many archeological sites to visit including Skara Brae, the Ring of Brodgar, the Standing Stones of Stenness, Maeshowe and many more.
  • Orkney offers stunning hill and costal walks, cycling, diving, fishing, sailing, and much more.
  • Most of Orkneys mainland beauty spots and attractions are within a 30min car journey away, or for the more adventurous, the ferries which leave for the North Isles are also only a 5 min drive from Oakdene.
