The Village
Thorpeness is no ordinary Suffolk village. Nearly a century ago, Stuart Ogilvie created Thorpeness for his family and friends making it a place where all can enjoy the magic of a traditional seaside holiday. Grade II listed, No. 2 Westgate was built in 1929 on a quiet unmade road with five other houses and is part of the original Ogilvie Estate.
The House
Our own cherished holiday house, No. 2 Westgate has been in our family for almost forty years. It is a large, well maintained house in the heart of the village and will comfortably sleep nine in 5 bedrooms:

- It has three floors with a fully fitted kitchen, dining room and WC on the ground floor; large living room, single bedroom, double bedroom, main bathroom/WC on the first floor; and a shower room, WC, two twin rooms and one single room with bunk beds on the top floor.
- Gas central heating with instant hot water.
- Bed linen and bath towels are provided.
- A pleasant garden at the rear of the house is accessible by car.
- Everything in the village is within walking distance: the Country Club (tennis), the Meare (boating lake), the Windmill, The Dolphin Inn (great food), the village shop, the Golf Club and, of course, the beach.

Out and About
Thorpeness has many great walks and cycling paths and there is plenty to do nearby. Just down the coast is Aldeburgh which has excellent restaurants and shops, as well as the best fish and chips for miles. Snape also offers great shops and eateries as well as its famous Maltings concert hall, home of the annual Aldeburgh Festival. Further along the coast are the RSPB Minsmere bird reserve, Southwold with its quirky pier and Adnams brewery, Walberswick for great crabbing and so much more to explore.
