Located at Skelwith Bridge, gateway to the very scenic Great Langdale Valley, the cottage retains character and old beams whilst providing all modern conveniences. It is tastefully furnished and superbly equipped and is quietly situated well away from the road, with a pleasant outlook over fields and Loughrigg Fell beyond. The local pub for bar meals is just 400 yards away and there are lowland and fell walks from the door.

Central for visiting Ambleside where you will find a variety of shops, restaurants, pubs and cinemas; Hawkshead and nearby Hill Top (home of Beatrix Potter); Coniston Water where water speed records were broken in Donald Campbell's Blue Bird; Grasmere famous for gingerbread; Lake Windermere for a variety of water sports and sailing on the steamers to Bowness and Lakeside, and the market towns of Keswick and Kendal.
 
 There are numerous outdoor activities including walking, climbing, cycling (both on and off road ­ Grizedale Forest is a great experience), golf, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, wild swimming (supervised), horse riding near Windermere.
 
Attractions include Dove Cottage in Grasmere ­ home of William Wordsworth, Ravenglass and Eskdale Miniature Railway and Museum, The Lakes Aquarium on the southern shore of Windermere, Brockhole Visitor Centre, Honister Slate Mine near Keswick, Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway, Muncaster Castle and Gardens near Ravenglass.

Accommodation is mainly on the ground floor:  
  • Very well equipped kitchen/dining area.
  • Three steps up takes you into the cosy sitting room.
  • Double bedroom.
  • Twin bedroom (two single beds).
  • One step down into the spacious bathroom - bath with electric shower over, W.C., basin, towel rail and shaver point.
 Outside:  
  • Private parking for two cars.
  • Bike storage available.
  • Patio area with outdoor furniture.
  • Drying room for outdoor clothing.
Tariff includes:  
  • Oil fired central heating, fuel for the fire and electricity.
  • Bed linen and towels (please bring your own bedding for the travel cot).
  • Cot and high chair.
Payment by BACS or cheque.
A non-refundable deposit of one third of the rent is required on booking, with the balance to be paid 4 weeks prior to arrival. Cheques made payable to Mrs. P. Long or please contact me for bank details.

An Access Statement is available on request.

Resident owners personally clean and maintain the cottage to a high standard.
