Welcome to Braeside, a traditional stone-built self-catering cottage in the crofting township of Tarskavaig, on the beautiful peninsula of Sleat at the southern tip of the Isle of Skye. You'll be assured of a warm welcome at our delightful cottage set amidst some of the finest scenery in the West Highlands, yet just 35 minutes from the Skye Bridge and just 15 minutes from the Mallaig to Armadale ferry service. Open all year round Braeside is ideal for a family holiday, or perhaps a romantic break for two, with a host of visitor attractions within a short distance and enjoying magnificent views across to the world-famous Cuillin Mountains and the Small Isles. Some of the finest sunsets in Scotland can be seen from Tarskavaig.

Braeside is at the very heart of some of the most stunning scenery in Scotland, located in Sleat, often known as the 'Garden of Skye' and offers a huge range of things to see and do within a close distance. Sandy beaches and rocky coves are just a walk away or for the more energetic visitor the Cuilin Mountains are considered to be the most challenging and rewarding walks and climbs in Britain. Wildlife abounds throughout the year with the summer months giving the chance to see whales, dolphins and basking sharks and a huge number of sea-birds. Otters are often seen in the rocky shores of Tarskavaig, and occasionally eagles and sea-eagles can be seen in the skies above the village. Numerous boat trips are available in Skye to see wildlife in the wild, and close by is the world-famous Clan Donald Skye, ancient seat of the Clan Donald, and home to Armadale Castle and Gardens and the Museum of the Isles.

Skye is justifiably proud of its food and drink and in the Sleat peninsula alone, there are 5 traditional hotels and inns, all offering a wonderful choice of local produce and fine wines. A busy and popular pub is just 10 miles away at the Eilean Iarmain Hotel which has live music in the bar throughout the year, a great place to enjoy superb food and meet new friends.

A week may never be long enough to enjoy all that Skye and Lochalsh has to offer the visitor, but good road, rail and air links mean that Braeside can be reached from almost anywhere in a day. Why not stay a little longer and get away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world, or take a weekend break to recharge the batteries! Whether you are here for a few days or a little longer you'll be assured of a warm welcome in Skye, and our cottage is your home from home to give you a wonderful holiday and take home memories of a lifetime.
