A sympathetically restored early 19th century cottage in the heart of the small conservation village of Bladnoch. Less than a mile from Wigtown, Scotland's book town, which holds two major literary festivals each year. - Within two minutes walk of a pleasant child-friendly pub and restaurant and Scotland's most southerly distillery (with regular tours and whisky tasting).
- There's an attractive golf course a couple of minutes drive away with plenty of others in the area. The championship course at Turnberry is an hour away.
- Permits to fish for trout and salmon locally in the River Bladnoch are available.
- The upper cottage bedrooms have views over the river and surrounding countryside.
- This part of Galloway has a network of villages surrounded by farms and woodland. It's rich in wildlife and includes nesting ospreys and peregrines.
 - There are plenty of quiet sandy beaches (ten minutes drive), unspoiled harbours, excellent sea fishing and safe havens for boating.
- The Galloway Forest Park, with internationally acclaimed mountain bike runs, is nearby.
- There's a good cinema in the market town of Newton Stewart and beyond that the wilderness of the Galloway hills, ideal for serious walkers. Ramblers looking for gentler exercise are also well provided for.
Accommodation The centrally-heated cottage is traditionally furnished to a high standard. A natural slate floored hallway leads into a secluded inner garden area, ideal for barbecues. Beyond this, there's a 90 yard outer garden with mature plants and plentiful supplies of herbs. There's a double bedroom on the ground floor with another double and twin room on the first floor. The living area has a stripped pine floor, a varied selection of books and an open peat fire. Adjoining the cottage is a stone-built games room with a pub pool table and drying area. Price: all inclusive.
