 This delightful stone cottage has three bedrooms and sleeps six. It is on a tranquil, private lane in the small farming hamlet of Alton, in the award-winning parish of Ashover and on the edge of the scenic Peak District National Park. Perched on top of a hill, there are fantastic views over the valley towards Hardwick Hall (National Trust) and Bolsover Castle (English Heritage).
Columbine Cottage combines the comforts of modern living with the charm and character of a country cottage. It has been furnished and equipped to a high standard whilst retaining many original features. There is an open log fire for cosy winter evenings - coal and logs are provided at no extra charge. The cottage also has its own private garden with barbecue and furniture for those lazy summer days.
Accommodation and Facilities: Sitting room with fireplace and open fire. French door to garden. Colour TV, video, DVD player, HiFi and a supply of DVDs, videos and books. Spacious fitted kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, washing machine, refrigerator and freezer. Separate dining room with seating for six people plus a breakfast bar. Three upstairs bedrooms - one double room and two twin-bedded rooms. Large upstairs bathroom with bath, separate shower cubicle, toilet and two hand-basins. Tumble dryer, washing line and ironing facilities. Highchair and travel cot available - please reserve when booking. All linen and towels are provided. Hair dryer. Fully controllable central heating. Pretty private garden with patio, furniture and barbecue. There are seven steps to the main garden area. Parking for two cars. We place a high priority on cleanliness and presentation - before you arrive the cottage will have been thoroughly cleaned and prepared for you. If you need any assistance during your stay there will be someone available to help you nearby. On the other hand if you'd prefer to be left alone to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of our lovely area then you'll also find this an ideal place to spend your holiday.
Surrounding Area:
Columbine Cottage is the ideal base for exploring all this area has to offer and visitors often comment on how centrally located it is for reaching the many attractions of Derbyshire and the Peak District. There is excellent walking from the doorstep with horse-riding in the village. The 'Crooked Spire' town of Chesterfield and the resort of Matlock Bath are both within a few miles. Chatsworth House, Hardwick Hall and the 'White Peak' dales around Bakewell are all an easy drive away. For the children there are the American Adventure and Gulliver's Kingdom. There are several excellent pubs which serve food in the vicinity - at least half a dozen of them just over a mile away in the neighbouring villages of Ashover, Milltown and Woolley Moor.
