Set in the beautiful surroundings of Upper Eskdale, Wha House is a working farm with approximately 800 sheep. The cottage is ideal for walkers wanting to explore the quieter side of the Lakes.
Accommodation: Compact, cosy and comfortable it has one bedroom with two single beds (these can be pushed together) and a shower room with high pressure shower, toilet and sink. The kitchen is fully equipped and leads through to the lounge area with TV and video. There are hundreds of walks right from the door - up Scafell (the highest mountain in England), Harter fell, across the fells to Wasdale with Wastwater (the deepest lake in England), or down the valley bottom, following the river Esk, past Stanley Gyhll waterfall to Ravenglass Estuary. Pets are welcome and riders who would like to bring their horse to explore the countryside from a more elevated view can house their horse on the farm itself.
The Woolpack Inn is a 10 minute walk away and serves good food and real ales. Boot village with its small shop, the Burnmoor Inn and Poachers Bar (both of which also serve food and real ale) is around a half hour walk. Eskdale also has a village shop which sells groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables, food to go, alcohol and newspapers.
