This light and spacious Edwardian cottage has been lovingly restored, providing an excellent base for your Lake District holiday. Situated overlooking the estuary, Westholme lies near the centre of the increasingly popular yet tranquil village of Ravenglass. A former Roman port, the village retains its sense of history down the ages with its cottages backing on to the sea shore and sailing boats at their moorings in the estuary. Stroll along the main street or just sit and watch the birds and the ebb & flow of the tide. For the more adventurous, take a walk around the estuary and head for the fells of Eskdale; or take a ride on La'al Ratty (the Ravenglass & Eskdale miniature railway has its terminus in the village) up to Eskdale, one of Lakeland's most beautiful valleys, with walks and pubs galore. Muncaster Castle is the home of the Pennington family whose ancestors have been there since the 12th C. Today you can tour the castle or find plenty to see and do in its extensive grounds. Simply walk through the back lanes in just 20 minutes or take a 5 minute drive by car to the castle gates. Whatever your interests Ravenglass can be the centre for a varied Lakeland holiday with comfort and warmth to come back to at Westholme.

• Magnificent, uninterrupted views across the estuary of the Rivers Irt, Mite & Esk, with fantastic sunsets over the Irish Sea.
• Superb location for bird watching from the shore or on the Nature Reserve across the estuary.
• Sailing and windsurfing on the estuary (a small dingy can be stored in the garden).
• Mixture of sand & pebble beaches at nearby Drigg and Seascale (where dogs can really stretch their legs!).
• Ideally suited for all walking abilities, from gentle strolls along the estuary, to the Scafell Range and the valleys of Eskdale and Wasdale all within a short car journey.
• Eating: Pennington Hotel for stylish bar and restaurant; Ratty Arms for good pub grub and real ales; pub at Holly House; caf at Rosegarth.
• Local attractions include: Ravenglass/ Eskdale steam railway, Muncaster Castle and Gardens and further afield the historic, Georgian port & town of Whitehaven.
