Violet Cottage is a cosy three bedroom terraced cottage overlooking the village green in the village of Ancrum, four miles north of Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders. Built five years before the battle of Culloden it is over 260 years old and has recently been fully renovated to a high standard retaining many original features. The living room has a large bay window, wood burning stove, leather sofas and exposed stone alcoves.
The large rear kitchen area has pine purpose built kitchen units; stone sink, a dual fuel gas range cooker, dining area and cosy corner overlooking the garden.
Upstairs the main double bedroom has a bay window, stripped pine floor boards and a Victorian fireplace. Beds can be made up as a double or twin and this room can accommodate a further single bed, if required.
The rear bedroom can be made up as a double or two single beds and has views to the rear of the cottage.
The third bedroom contains a double bed.
A pine floored bathroom contains toilet, bath, shower and heated towel rail.
Fully heated by gas central heating included in the tariff.
Large rear private garden with a large lawn area, mature fruit trees, outside seating area with BBQ, chiminea and views of open countryside.
Ancrum village has a friendly pub, The Cross Keys, serving good beer and food and an well stocked village shop with post office, both an easy stroll from the cottage. Locally there is excellent fishing, golfing and walking. Edinburgh is within one hour's drive to the north and Northumberland to the south.
