This charmingly renovated stone cottage built in 1820 with an open working fireplace and views over fields is situated in the village of Butterknowle. This quiet village has one pub, a village hall and shop, plus a small post office and doctors surgery all reached with a short walk. The cottage and village is ideally situated for trips to Raby Castle, Hamsterly Forest, Bowes museum and High Force the highest waterfall in England.

Only 12 miles away is the bustling market town of Barnard Castle or Bishop Auckland both with excellent golf courses and local restaurants and pubs.
The Yorkshire Dales and North Pennines "areas of outstanding beauty" offer geological and nature trails thus giving walkers, cyclists and bird watchers the perfect break.
Other activities available include fishing, sailing, pony trekking and off road 4x4 driving instruction at Deep Dale driving centre.
