Toad Cottage is an idyllic 17th Century stone cottage and a perfect base for a holiday in the heart of England.
This historical building is believed to have been built originally as the barn and stables for the local blacksmith but is known to have spent some time as part of the Blacksmith Arms Public House and also as the village shop. The building was tastefully converted some years ago into living accommodation but has lost none of its natural charm with exposed beams, open hearth fireplace and many original fixtures and fittings. Toad Cottage has been completely redecorated for this season and is fully equipped to a very high standard with many extras to make your stay special.
Accommodation Full central heating throughout. Fully fitted kitchen/breakfast room with original oak beams. Large twin bedroom with an adjoining shower room and toilet. Large double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and toilet. Very spacious lounge/dining room with open fire and exposed beams. A sofa bed is available if 6 people wish to stay. Off street parking. Toad Cottage is located in the centre of Two Dales Village, a quarter of a mile from the A6, between Bakewell and Matlock. It takes only 2 minutes to reach the village pub and the local shops are also very close by.
From the front door, a short walk across a couple of fields and two roads, takes you directly into the Peak District National Park where you can explore the open moorland, wooded valleys and the famous gritstone outcrops. Several trails are within easy reach and ideal for experienced walkers, casual ramblers or cyclists. There are also plenty of opportunities for fly fishing and course fishing on the rivers and reservoirs of Derbyshire whereas Carsington Reservoir offers water sports of all types.
Bakewell, Matlock, Buxton and the 'Crooked Spire' town of Chesterfield are all near by and for the day out you'll be spoilt for choice with Chatsworth, Heights of Abraham, Gulliver's Kingdom and Alton Towers, amongst many others.
