THWAITE is a small stone built village (population under 30) near the head of the beautiful valley of Swaledale. It is situated at the foot of the Buttertubs Pass, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

This is an ideal area for walking, with miles of paths straight from the doorstep, for sightseeing or simply relaxing and drinking in the atmosphere. The Pennine Way passes through Thwaite, and the route from the village to Keld, around Kisdon Hill is renowned for the unforgettable views of the River Swale as it twists and turns along the valley. The hills are dotted with stone barns and miles of stone walls disappearing into the horizon.
