 Badger Way Stoop Cottage, is part of Throstle Gill Farm, situated between the historic market towns of Richmond and Barnard Castle.
Throstle Gill Farm stands in a secret wooded cleft of the hills beneath the iron-age hill fort of Castlesteads.
It enjoys a peace and tranquillity seldom found in today's busy world. It is an ideal place for those who want to get away from it all, yet it enjoys easy access to the A1(M) and the A66.
Accommodation Able to sleep 4, the cottage looks out over the stream to the woods. Cosy and well-equipped with electric storage heaters and coal/log fire. Electricity and fuel for fires are included in the rental price, as are bed linen and towels. One well-behaved dog is welcome. Outside
There is a small waterfall and near the cottage, a pond bordered by a small garden and lawn with picnic table. In the early morning the heron comes down to feed. There are many varieties of bird including kingfisher and dipper. Badger, fox and deer are all occasionally seen near the house. There are public footpaths across the farmland where the sheep and cattle graze. Friendly ducks and free-range hens are permanent residents.
The Village of Dalton nestles 1 mile below Throstle Gill and food may be had at 'The Travellers Rest' or at one of the many pubs in the nearby villages. Throstle Gill is an ideal centre to explore 'The Herriot Trail' and Swaledale and Wensleydale to the south. To the north lie Teesdale, Durham and Hadrian's Wall. West lie Appleby and Penrith, gateway to the Lake District and east, the North York Moors.
