 Thornthwaite Farm is set amidst the beautiful scenery of the Woodland Valley. We have five cottages including our new 4 star barn conversion (photo on right) with stunning views of the Lakeland fells. The cottages are ideally situated for those wishing to go walking or cycling or just relaxing, with many walks from your cottage door.  
  • We have 150 acres of beautiful woodland to explore, which are a vivid carpet of bluebells in the spring.
  • Additionally, guests regularly enjoy the opportunity to go badger watching at dusk, watch the fox cubs playing or catch a glimpse of the barn owls out hunting. We also have available to guests our own trout fishing lake and riverbank fishing.
  • Thornthwaite is located within easy reach of all the major attractions, however if you need to get away from it all and relax in a friendly atmosphere our farm is perfect..

  • The kitchen/dining room contains an oven and hob, microwave, washer/dryer and fridge freezer.

  • There are two bedrooms, one double and one twin. The bedrooms have recently been refurbished to a high standard using quality furnishings in solid oak.

  • A solid ash spiral staircase leads to the upper floor. There is one double bedroom furnished using quality furnishings in solid oak. The room also features a balcony which overlooks the garden.

  • This building was once the heart of the estates forestry operations and used to house a large circular saw for processing trees felled in the woods into planks.
  • There are magnificent views through the huge feature window to the Coniston fells including Coniston Old Man, Walna Scar, and Dow Crag etc.
  • This open plan lounge and kitchen has a solid oak kitchen with dishwasher oven and halogen hob, fridge/freezer and microwave etc, and high quality lounge and dining furniture. There is a woodburning fire for those cosy winter nights.
  • There is a flat screen television with Freeview and DVD.
  • On the second floor there is a gallery with excellent views out of the feature window.
  • There are three bedrooms, one double and 2 twin rooms, all are furnished using quality furnishings in solid oak.
