The Old Smithy is a charming, traditional cottage in a peaceful, tranquil location with views of the countryside. The cottage is set in an acre of lawned gardens with many shrubs, trees and flower tubs and baskets. The cottage has been renovated to a very high standard.

You can be assured of a very comfortable stay in this very well equipped cottage. The owners manage and maintain the cottage personally, providing first class accommodation with a high degree of comfort, taking great pride in cleanliness and appearance. A real home from home. Beds are made up for our guests arrival, and bed linen, bath and hand towels, and tea towels are included at no extra charge. The prices are very competitive and gas central heating and electricity are also included.

  • The Old Smithy sleeps 2 people in a very comfortable double bed in the spacious bedroom, with room for cot, or single folding bed, if required (free loan).
  • The Old Smithy is in a very private setting at the end of an unadopted road, adjoining the owners cottage.
  • It is situated on the outskirts of the village of Pensilva, and nestles on the edge of Bodmin moor, with views of the hills and countryside.
  • The village is well served with its own large shop, post office, bus service, church and pub. All within easy walking distance from the cottage.

Location  

  • Ideally situated for touring the north and south coasts of Cornwall and Devon.
  • Bodmin moor is close at hand and is extremely popular with walkers. The area is packed with mining heritage and mythical stone circles and standing stones.
  • The many other attractions of Cornwall, such as its heritage, historic houses and gardens, rugged coastlines and scenic beauty are well within easy reach.
  • The traditional holiday of sandy beaches is not far away, either on the north or south coast and for the more active there is everything from sailing to cycling or walking the south west coastal path.
  • There are the popular beaches of Looe, where there are also plenty of shops and restaurants, so makes an excellent destination for a day trip.
  • The Lost Gardens of Heligan are approximately one hours drive away and it is approximately 45 minutes drive to the famous Eden Project.

Things to do  

  • Fishing: Fly fishing at Siblyback Lake (4 miles) or sea fishing, including shark fishing, at Looe.
  • Bowling: Indoor and outdoor bowling at the nearby market town of Liskeard and outdoors at Looe.
  • Swimming: Indoor pool complex at Lux Park Leisure Centre, Liskeard.
  • Golf: St Mellions Golf Club is only 6 miles away.
  • Sterts Open Air Theatre at Upton Cross.

  • Upstairs to spacious double bedroom with full size, extremely comfortable double bed, made ready for guests with good quality bed linen. Ample wardrobe and drawer space. Bedside cabinets with bedside lights. Electric fan.
  • Large window with south facing views over the front garden and surrounding countryside.
  • Separate shower room with Mira shower, wc and wash hand basin. Electric shaver point. Shelving with ample towels.

Outside there is a large, private garden to the side of the cottage for guests exclusive use, with garden table and chairs and sun parasol. Rotary washing line. Security lighting. Private parking in front of the cottage.
