  The Old Smithy is a charming, traditional cottage in a peaceful, tranquil location with views of the surrounding countryside. Set in an acre of lawned gardens with many shrubs, trees and flower beds. The cottage is situated on the outskirts of the village of Pensilva and nestles on the edge of Bodmin Moor, which has been awarded World Heritage Site Status.
 
Introduction - The village is well served with its own large shop, post office, church and inn, all within easy walking distance.

- There are the popular beaches of Looe, where there are also plenty of shops and restaurants, so makes an excellent destination for a day trip.
- Visit The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the famous Eden Project.
- Fishing: Fly fishing at Siblyback Lake (4 miles) or sea fishing, including shark fishing, at Looe.
- Bowling: Indoor and outdoor bowling at the nearby market town of Liskeard and outdoors at Looe.
- Swimming: Indoor pool complex at Lux Park Leisure Centre, Liskeard.
- Golf: St Mellions Golf Club is only 6 miles away.
- Sterts Open Air Theatre at Upton Cross.
- There is a choice of local inns only a short drive away and most serve real ale and good food.
- Nearby Golitha Falls with several miles of woodland walks adjoining the river Fowey.
