Dykehead Farm is a working equine stud situated on a hillside, overlooking the River Dee and across to the hills of Glen Tanar. Backed by woodland, there is a wonderful, uninterrupted view of farmland, forest, river, mountains and a huge and ever changing sky. Although it is only two miles from the village of Aboyne, it has a feeling of seclusion and tranquillity.

The Old Mill is part of the original farm steading and is attached to the stable block. It is completely private and very peaceful with its own sheltered garden looking up the glen towards Lochnagar.
  • Open plan and built on three levels, there is a fully equipped kitchen, raised dining area, spacious sitting room with a large wood burning stove, two big, comfy sofas and a day bed.
  • On the upper level is a romantic loft style double bedroom with a king size bed.
  • The open, a-frame roof, wooden floors, pink granite walls and large windows combine to create a relaxed and airy feeling.
Location
The Old Mill has a calm and welcoming atmosphere and is a perfect base in the midst of The Cairngorms National Park.
  • Whether you are looking for a romantic retreat or an action packed holiday there is plenty to do in the scenic surroundings of Deeside; fantastic hill walking, excellent golf, superb fishing, pony trekking, mountain biking and plenty of historic castles and distilleries.
  • We are close to Aboyne Gliding Club and forty minutes from the skiing facilities of Glen Shee and The Lecht.
  • Aboyne is a bustling village with all the essential facilities including a small supermarket, a couple of pubs and several tea shops and restaurants.
  • Situated on the A93, Aboyne is approximately 45 minutes from Aberdeen airport, train station and harbour.
