The Hidden Cottage is tucked away within the 18th Century conservation village of Nuneham Courtenay in rural Oxfordshire. The ideal base from which to explore both the dreaming spires of Oxford and the heart of the English countryside, this listed cottage is just 5 miles from Oxford city centre and is also within easy walking distance of the River Thames. The cottage is midway between the Chilterns and the Cotswolds and is set within the Nuneham Park Estate, famous for its associations with Lewis Carroll and Alice Through the Looking Glass.
Accommodation: Freshly decorated and re-furbished using traditional paints and vintage fabrics, the cottage is cosy and comfortable with painted and polished wooden floors and antique furniture. The lounge is very comfortable with an open fire and cosy sofa and armchairs. There is also a hi-fi system with wide-screen TV and DVD player. The pretty bathroom has been newly fitted with a traditional free standing bath and luxurious power shower. The bright kitchen is well equipped and includes a washing machine and microwave and enjoys a lovely view across the garden. The peaceful garden room opens out to the rambling cottage garden which is both private and spacious. Location - We are only a few metres from Oxford University's Harcourt Arboretum with ten acres of woodland and a 37 acre wild flower meadow.
- Neighbouring Nuneham House is currently used as a retreat centre. Its landscaped grounds were designed by Lancelot Capability Brown.
- The nearby Seven Stars Inn is also within easy walking distance and serves excellent food and a good selection of local beers.
