is a comfortable, spacious bungalow, situated in the small village of Aird on Gallan Head. It is located within the scenic area of Uig on the rugged west coast of Lewis and enjoys superb, open views over Aird Bay, West Loch Roag and the Atlantic.

• Natural, wooden floors throughout the main living areas.
• Double bedroom with large en-suite (bath, toilet, wash-unit).
• Second Double bedroom with en-suite (electric shower, toilet, basin).
• Two comfortable single bedrooms, each with portable CD/radio player.
• Fifth bedroom with a single, bunk bed over a settee. The settee pulls out into a bed, if required.
• Quality, lined curtains (important when it doesn't get dark until late, in the summer!).
• Separate, family bathroom (bath, over-bath shower, toilet, wash-unit).
• Full, solid-fuel, central heating; separate immersion heater.
• Quality bed-linen (most is 100% cotton).
• Kitchen/Diner with oak units, pine table and chairs, Rayburn, electric cooker, gas hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, bread-maker, radio, full range of quality kitchen accessories, table-linen, apron, tea-towels, etc.
• Lounge with open-fire; Satellite TV, DVD player/DVD's, Hi-Fi/CD's; chess/backgammon table, board games.
• Large hall, with bookcases and a good selection of books.
• Utility room with washing machine, tumble-dryer, second fridge, washbasin, freezer.

Outside  

• Large back garden (rather wild and uneven).
• Flat, lawned area to the side of the house.
• Barbecue.
• Swing-ball.
• Veranda overlooking the sea.
• Hard-standing for cars.

Locally

Beautiful shell-sand beaches, innumerable lochs, wild mountainside and spectacular sea cliffs can be found within just a few miles of The Guardhouse. The area is a haven for Wildlife and with no light pollution, spectacular night skies can often be seen, particularly during the winter months, when you may even be fortunate enough to see the aurora. There is a licensed, Community shop /garage/post office, which sells fresh veg., meat, fish and other provisions, approximately 3 miles down the road. A mobile shop visits once a week.

To Do

If you enjoy the outdoors, you will find plenty on offer here. Walking, cycling, bird-watching, sea trips, fishing, kite-buggying, kayaking, swimming, climbing are some of activities that can be participated in locally. For those with an interest in history, the area has many sites of archaeological interest and there is a small museum at the local Community Centre, where you can also get a light lunch. For fine wining and dining, there is a French/Scottish restaurant close by.
