Ideal for relaxing and as a centre for touring or for walking (Simonside hills literally alongside, Cheviot hills 7 miles). Diversity of natural habitat is very much on the doorstep. Dippers and other birds can be seen from the kitchen at the burn outside. Inside, the atmosphere is of clean, comfortable welcome. And the picturesque and historic features of Northumberland can all be easily reached from here.

Historically always called "The Badger", it is around 200 years old and was once a small hostelry used by drovers en route to market, for refreshment and rest. Conveniently, their thirsty livestock drank from the burn outside. Thus revived, both were then ready to resume their journey. Now, somewhat enlarged and updated, echoes of the cottage's past are evident and it still has a restorative effect.
