The Haven is a stone cottage originally built as three dwellings in 1767. It has been converted into two self contained cottages; the holiday home being the smaller of these, and our own home the larger.
We renovated the cottage from a derelict state and believe we have managed to modernise whilst retaining some of its original charm. For example, there are exposed beams and stone walls, and a brick bread oven.
The cottage contains:
An entrance hall and sitting room, both with low beamed ceilings and exposed walls. The sitting room has a three piece suite seating four, gate-leg table and chairs, colour television, radio, and CD player.
The kitchen has a full size electric cooker, microwave, refrigerator with ice making compartment, washing machine, and a small dining area.
The shower room, with electric shaver point, leads off a small inner lobby on the ground floor.
The bedrooms are reached by an enclosed staircase from the sitting room. Both bedrooms have exposed main beams, and stone walls. The main bedroom has a double bed and single bed, and the smaller bedroom, which leads off, has two full size single beds. All beds have duvets. Linen provided.
All main rooms have fitted carpets.
Hot water to the sinks is included in the weekly hire charge, but other electricity is by meter reading (not coin operated).
All rooms have independent heating.
We request No Smoking in the cottage.
No pets.
Outside:
Guests have exclusive use of a large enclosed garden, which is mainly lawned, with trees.
Photo shows view of garden from front of cottage.
To the right of the cottage is a south-facing patio, which is both sheltered and secluded.
There is parking on the premises for one car.
The Haven is situated outside the village of Frodesley, which is approx 8 miles south of Shrewsbury. The cottage is well placed for walking on the local hills. It also makes an ideal base for trips to the Ironbridge Gorge and its museums, the Welsh Marches, old market towns and the lakes of North Shropshire.
