Taigh Na Mara - a traditional 19th detached Fisherman's cottage, right on the seafront in a very peaceful conservation area of Buckie. Just one hour from Aberdeen, Inverness and Aviemore making this an ideal base for exploring this beautiful, undiscovered part of Scotland with its very temperate climate due to its proximity to the hills and mountains. The cottage has the benefit of off-road parking for two vehicles right outside the front door. Opposite the cottage is a stretch of grass ideal for children and pets. A little further on is a small children's play park and steps leading down to the foreshore. The cottage 'Taigh-na-Mara' (Home by the sea) has magnificent views across the Moray Firth from all rooms, especially from the large upstairs lounge. The spectacular sunsets are a sight not to be missed, as are the frequent sightings of the Moray Dolphins. Location
The coastal towns of Buckie, Lossiemouth and Cullen have unspoilt and uncrowded, wide sandy beaches. Just a 10 minute walk from the cottage is Buckie town centre with all the usual amenities: supermarkets, banks, restaurants, pubs etc. For day trips follow the Castle Trail or World Famous whisky Trail (the only one of its kind in the world).
This rugged coastline has hidden treasures such as the picturesque and quaint fishing villages of Gardenstown or Pennan (the setting for the film Local Hero) or Portsoy playing host to the World-Famous International Boat Festival held at the end of June each year.
There are over seventy golf courses in the area, excellent Salmon and Trout fishing and day trips out to sea for fishing or dolphin spotting, skiing at either The Lecht or the Cairngorms. White water rafting, coasteering , off-road go-karting etc, nearby - all this and much more. Forest walks and trails in abundance all well signposted, some easy, some difficult, ideal for walkers and cyclists alike.
There is so much more to see and do in this unspoilt part of Scotland, too much to list everything; come and visit, sample the local cuisine, explore, relax and enjoy the Scottish hospitality.
