Staithes offers the perfect base for a short break or longer holiday on the beautiful North York Moors coast with easy access to the heart of the National Park area and Cleveland Way. The old part of the village dates back to the 18th century with traditional houses and cobbled streets, but remains a vibrant community with local facilities to service the needs of visitors. If you want to travel further a field the beautiful medieval city of York is within a 90 minute drive.
Property Details
Stonegarth is a delightful and traditional cottage in the heart of old Staithes which is perfect for couples and families alike with a cosy lounge area with log burner and separate kitchen/diner. It is a much loved second home and has recently been updated whilst retaining a wealth of original features. The cottage has central heating powered by a multifuel stove and all rooms have the benefit of both radiators and brand new storage heaters for permanent background heat. This is the perfect retreat for holidays at all times of the year! Stonegarth is set in a quiet location just off the High Street and is a short walk to the local shops, pubs and restaurants. Short term parking is available for unloading and the main car park is a 5-10 minute walk from the cottage.
Cottage Layout
Ground Floor - cosy lounge with original beams, exposed stonework and a multifuel stove, which also powers the central heating. There is a TV/DVD player and portable CD/radio. Steps lead up from the lounge in to a hallway off which there is a separate WC and separate access to the rear of the cottage. The kitchen/diner has a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, oven/hob/extractor, portable TV and there is a large farmhouse style table with seating for 6 people.
First Floor - spacious double bedroom with original beams and stripped floor boards. The bathroom has full sized bath and electric shower.
Second Floor - great attic bedroom with twin beds plus an additional child's single. This room also has stripped floorboards and benefits from panoramic views across the rooftops towards Cowbar Nab. Please note that there is storage heating only in this room.
Outside - there is a shared yard to the front of the cottage with a bench provided for use by guests.
General Information
The cottage is strictly non-smoking. The internal staircase is steep and may not be suitable for people with mobility issues plus there is some restricted head height on the second floor. Bedding and towels are provided and we include utility bills in the rental plus an initial supply of logs for the multifuel stove November to March inclusive. We provide a parking permit for use in the Staithes Bank Top car park when parking charges apply March to October inclusive. A travel cot and high chair are available free of charge by prior arrangement and subject to availability. We are happy to accept one dog at the property for an additional charge of £25 and may consider an additional dog by prior arrangement. We ask that your dog stays on the ground floor of the cottage at all times, is kept off furniture and not left alone in the cottage at any time unless you bring a travel crate. We charge a refundable damage deposit against any significant damage or loss of the parking permit. The damage deposit is due with your final balance one month prior to arrival and is returned to you once we have checked the property and confirmed that the parking permit is in place. We will provide full terms and conditions at the time of booking. Payment is by cheque or internet transfer.
