Springtime is definitely one of the best times to visit this beautiful region;quiet roads, beautiful wild flowers, returning birds,lengthening days. Come and enjoy!

Of course, if it is fishing you want,then the River Cree is right on your doorstep. It is one of Scotland`s undiscovered, and therefore uncrowded, salmon and sea-trout rivers and it is right on our doorstep. Then maybe a little golf to finish the day-the local 18-hole course is just around the corner.

For all of you golf fans out there, Stone Cottage is only an hour`s drive from the world-famous  Turnberry course.

 Dumfries and Galloway is now an important centre for stargazing and the skies over Newton Stewart have been putting on a great show recently. Only 5 minutes from the cottage you can be in total darkness with an undisturbed view of the night sky.

 New dates for your diaries-NEWTON STEWART FOLK FESTIVAL, 4th and 5th July 2014. This is a brand new venture so come along and join in. Great guest acts and open mic sessions.The Newton Stewart Walking Festival is on 8th-15th May. Come and enjoy some of the best and most peaceful walking in Scotland.
