Our self catering accommodation at Scar Side Farm near Penrith in Cumbria is set in glorious surroundings and offers a peaceful retreat in a well appointed Westmorland Longhouse. Set at the end of an isolated lane and tucked under Orton Scar, Scar Side Farm Holiday Cottage looks south over the Howgills and the eastern Lakeland Fells.
Accommodation: The self catering holiday cottage at Scar Side Farm is in the original farmhouse; the owners and their dogs live in the adjoining conversion. The farmhouse is centrally heated and double-glazed. It sleeps six, in two double rooms and a bunkroom. There is a bathroom with a large bath, w.c. and washbasin. The living area consists of a beamed lounge with magnificent inglenook fireplace and log-burning stove, digital TV and CD/radio. Relax by the fire with one of the many books provided for your enjoyment. Alternatively, there is a selection of CD's to suit all ages. There is a well equipped kitchen area, with a fridge-freezer, oven and induction hob, microwave and dishwasher. Laundry facilities are available on request. Facilities: - All fuel, electricity, bed linen, towels and tea towels are provided.

Location The fields surrounding Scar Side are a haven for wildlife; hares and badgers can often be seen, as can buzzards, soaring on the thermals rising off Orton Scar. Quiet lanes and empty fells offer scope for walks and rambles to suit all abilities. If you prefer a less leisurely pace, bring along your bicycles and explore the surrounding countryside, stopping off at one off the local pubs for a bite to eat. Or pack a picnic and dine out in splendour!
