 Scalebeck was originally a 17th-century farmstead, and nestles peacefully in its own tranquil valley about 1 mile from the pretty village of Great Asby in the Eden Valley. It is surrounded by beautiful scenery and we have red squirrels and a large variety of birds visiting the extensive gardens, part of which is an SSSI.
Relax in 4 Star luxury and discover the gentle pace of this forgotten oasis, ideal for walking, cycling. Or use us as a base for wider adventures into the nearby Lake District or Yorkshire Dales National Parks, or the traditional market towns of Appleby and Kirkby Stephen, with many small shops supplying local produce and crafts.
Accommodation
There are three cottages, all graded 4 Star by the English Tourism Council. The living/dining/kitchen areas are all open-plan with exposed beams. There is full gas central heating - we are open all year - and they are fully equipped.
Witsend: one double bedroom with a 6 ft. four-poster bed. There is also a Z-bed available in the bedroom and a double bed settee in the lounge.
Folly: the family cottage, it has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the second with a single bed and bunks.
Rum'un: suitable for a family or two couples, it has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the second with 2 singles. There also a Z-bed available for use in the lounge.
Facilities: - Colour TV, video, DVD, CD player/radio, fridge and microwave.
- There is a power shower in the bathroom, and hair dryer is available.
- Cycle store and laundry with coin-operated washing machine, dryer and public telephone.
- Games room with table tennis and pool and large garden for use by visitors with grassed areas for outside games or dog walking.
- Parking for two cars per cottage.
- One well-behaved pet welcome.
- Bed linen and towels are provided and heating costs are included in the price.
- Fixed stairgate in all cottages with cot and high chair available on request.

From Jct. 38 of M6 or Appleby (10 miles east of Penrith on A66) follow B6260, Appleby/Tebay road. We are situated approximately 5 miles south-east of Appleby, between the villages of Drybeck and Great Asby.
