Welcome to Rose's Cottage - so named as it belonged to a Mr Thomas Rose in the 1890's. When we became the owners in 2009, we renovated the cottage just how we would want it if we were on holiday. A home from home is how, we hope, our visitors think of it.
The cottage is next door to a (quiet!) traditional country inn, the Fox Inn, on the village green. So, if you don't wish to cook one evening, either stroll next door or drive to Stow on the Wold or Moreton in Marsh for a good selection of restaurants and takeaways. There are also local gastro-pubs with good reputations in the neighbouring villages of Oddington, Kingham and Churchill.
The Fox,is supplied with local ales from Donnington Brewery, the Good Pub Guide's Brewery of the Year 2010,only two miles away and still powered by waterwheel. Visit the Fox during the summer on a Thursday evening and see the game of "Aunt Sally" played in the beer garden. Come here for a change in pace of life, hear the dawn chorus and gaze at the stars in the night sky.
Thank you to everyone visiting who took the trouble to write such kind comments in the guestbook. Here's looking back to our visitors for 2013:

“We have had another enjoyable week back at Rose’s Cottage. Thank you for your warm welcome and the provisions and goodies were much appreciated. So many picturesque places to visit and so very unspoilt and relaxing. Good meals in the Fox Inn where you are made very welcome – recommend Sunday Lunch.

“We had been travelling for several weeks & Rose’s Cottage was just perfect, We were able to “home” cook and everything we needed was here. Each day we explored the countryside and found unusual and interesting sights. We also ventured further to Oxford, so there was plenty of variety. The cottage was very comfortable and clean and if we come this way again will definitely stay again. We have travelled a lot and this is up there with the best!”
Heather & Bill

“Cottage was perfect in every way and the groceries very welcome. Pleasantly surprised by Chastleton House. We also enjoyed Shakespeare’s birthplace and Anne Hathaways Cottage and also Snowshill Manor. Lovely circular walk from Bourton on the Hill. Lower Slaughter very pretty.”
Anne & Mike May 2013
“Rarely have we stayed in such a well-appointed, clean accommodation. A very pleasant and relaxing holiday.”
June and Reg
“Thanks for an enjoyable and relaxing week. We were impressed with the ambiance and cleanliness of the cottage. The weather has been very kind to us this week and we enjoyed visiting many of the local villages. We particularly enjoyed Donnington with all the daffodils on the roadside. (The Civil War monument took a bit of finding though!) We can recommend the Naunton Downs Golf Course – very welcoming and relatively challenging course – Monday is a good day to play – only £22.”
Pat & Gerald
"Another restful and pleasant stay! Cold weather but a visit or two to the Fox Inn and the beautiful villages made it all worthwhile. Thank you Alison, for your wonderful hospitality."
Gary & Robyn
"A peaceful retreat, wonderful hospitality, cold weather but were snug when indoors. Loved the villages, Moreton-in-Marsh and Stow-on-the-Wold but enjoyed Shipston-on Stour and visited the Whichford Pottery, well worth a visit if interested in gardening."
