Location
  • South Cumbria offers a wealth of attractions for days out, including Muncaster Castle, with its magnificent gardens and World Owl Trust collection of breeding owls; picturesque Ravenglass and the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway (known as 'La'al Ratty'); Furness Abbey, as beautiful as the more well-known Tintern or Fountains; Barrow Dock Museum (entry free!); the grandeur of Wasdale, and the quiet peace of Eskdale and the Duddon Valley, much loved by William Wordsworth. Coniston and Windermere are also within easy reach for Lake Cruises and a host of other attractions, museums, gardens and historic houses.
  • The cottages are within walking distance of numerous vast beaches and country/hill walks including Hodbarrow RSPB nature reserve, which provides a home for a variety of interesting wild-life, including natterjack toads, several species of orchid, and the largest breeding colony of Little Terns in England.
