This delightful stone cottage with its beamed ceilings is attached to the owner's imposing 18th century farmhouse and offers cosy, comfortable accommodation which has been awarded a four star rating from the Welsh Tourist Board. It is situated in a beautiful valley close to the stunning Cambrian Mountains and overlooks rolling hills where sheep can be seen grazing.

The cottage and farmhouse are surrounded by over 7 acres of land bordered by a mountain stream. This is a wonderful location for taking in the abundant wildlife and is famous for its birds of prey, including the Red Kite, which can frequently be seen hovering over the countryside. There is a public footpath leading from the cottage across the fields.

Accommodation:
  • Downstairs is an attractive, beamed lounge/dining area with views over the fields, mountains and garden. There is a very efficient gas log-effect fire in front of which stands a large, comfortable settee and fireside chair. The dining area has a table with four chairs and overlooks the garden.
  • Satellite T.V, stereo CD player, a chess set, books, videos, magazines and games are all provided with numerous leaflets giving details of the many varied and interesting places to visit.
  • The well equipped kitchen area has an electric cooker, microwave, washing machine, fridge with freezer compartment, blender, iron and ironing board.
  • Upstairs are two pretty bedrooms with sloping beamed ceilings - one double and one single with an additional chair bed for a child. Both are heated by electric radiators. A travel cot and baby bath with stand is also available. The shower room has a shower, toilet, wash basin and electric wall heater.
  • All bed linen is provided with duvets and additional blankets. Towels and tea towels are also included.
  • On arrival we offer a tea tray with biscuits and a few free range eggs from our chickens when available.
  • There is space for parking two cars and a pub and restaurant are within 2 miles.

The Gardens and Grounds:

  • The cottage has its own large, private fenced garden overlooking the fields and mountains with seating areas including table and chairs and a small patio with gas BBQ.

Locally:

  • A garage with a small shop is located within 1 mile.
  • The friendly market town of Lampeter is seven miles away and  has two supermarkets, pubs, various cafes and restaurants.

Places to visit:

  • Pony Trekking: Close to the cottage are two pony trekking centres which cater for both beginners and experienced riders. We also have two horses of our own which can often be seen grazing in the fields.
  • Fishing: The four fishing lakes, which are set within 20 acres of countryside, are within walking distance of the cottage and offer both coarse and fly fishing. Tuition is available and it is possible to buy a day permit. There is also a tackle and bait shop and night fishing is available by arrangement.
  • The Roman Goldmines: These are owned by the National Trust and are well worth a visit. Here you can try your hand at gold panning, enjoy a guided tour of the mines or treat yourself to a piece of beautiful Welsh Gold jewellery. Distance from the cottage is approximately 5 miles.
  • The Cambrian Mountains: The mountains can be seen from the cottage and offer spectacular walking and scenic drives. Herds of wild ponies can sometimes be seen as well as an abundance of sheep with their lambs in springtime. The character of the mountains changes with the seasons from the carpet of bluebells in the early part of the year to the mauve haze of heather in the autumn. About an hour away is the Lynn Brianne Dam where you will feel that you have been transported to Switzerland with its pine forests and lakes.
  • The Heritage Coastline: A 30 minute drive will take you through the pretty town of Lampeter with its abundance of flowers and hanging baskets, and on to the beautiful Heritage Coastline where dolphins, seals and porpoise are a regular and awe-inspiring sight. Coastal paths are numerous and the views stunning. Further along the coast you come to the quaint fishing village of New Quay from which boat trips can be taken and there are also two wonderful sandy beaches a little beyond the village.
  • The Brecon Beacons: The Brecon Beacons are about an hour away where you will also find the magnificent Welsh Show Caves which are known as the most spectacular showcaves complex in Northern Europe. There are three award winning caves including the magnificent Cathedral Cave with its lake and two cascading waterfalls. Within the complex you can enjoy one of the world's largest dinosaur parks and an Iron Age Farm which also houses shire horses among its other animals. There is also a mountain railway, driven by steam locomotives, which weaves its way across the mountains and valleys. Other railway journeys are also on offer and all give the opportunity to enjoy the dramatic scenery.
  • The Red Kites: If you have a special interest in the famous Red Kite birds of prey, then visit one of the feeding centres and watch hundreds of them swoop down from the trees.
  • Gardens, Castles and Historic Houses: These are too numerous to mention in detail but the famous Botanic Garden of Wales is a must for garden lovers with its award winning glasshouse, themed gardens, rolling parkland and secluded woodland.
