Rectory Cottage is set in Llangower, a tiny hamlet on the south-eastern side of Llyn Tegid, the largest natural lake in Wales, and just 3 miles from Bala which is a small market town, full of history and interest, where you can  enjoy the Welsh culture and language.

Set on the southern edge of Snowdonia National Park, this is an area of mystic beauty, Celtic legends, and warm hospitality. This is an ideal place for walking, sailing or just lazing. Peaceful though it is, distances are small - in less than an hour's drive you can explore most of North and Mid Wales, enjoying the wonderful lakes and green valleys, the splendid mountains and variety of coastal scenery.

Visitors find that Rectory Cottage is superb for relaxing holidays. The cottage has a romantic feel, with its beams, cosy wood burning stove, and wonderful views from the cottage windows.

Locally
  • Bala is known as an international centre for water sports. Sailing, windsurfing and canoeing can be enjoyed on the lake.
  • Fishing on Llyn Tegid and local rivers, also at nearby Brenig Reservoir.
  • Leisure Centre: There is an excellent programme of activities throughout the year, swimming, sauna, a fitness room, any ball sport, and there is a good cafe with excellent food at reasonable prices.
  • There is a golf course, a cinema, ten pin bowling, tennis, bike hire and a traditional market on Thursdays where you can see cattle bought and sold.
  • Bala has plenty of interesting eating-places, but at lunchtime why not take a picnic by the lake, or wander up a quiet footpath and sit on a river's edge or on a mountainside. There are not many places as peaceful or beautiful.
