Rebecca the Shepherd's Hut is idyllically situated on the banks of a mountain stream in the heart of the wild, unspoilt beauty of the Preseli Hills, just a 20 minute drive from the Pembrokeshire coast. The absence of electricity with its busy reminder of modern life allows for unusual peace and tranquillity and real connection with the abundant wildlife here, offering the opportunity for a wonderful holiday/adventure whilst leaving a satisfyingly light footprint. Ideal for birdwatching, walking, dreaming, romantic break, retreat or simply getting away from it all.
Built on fine 100 year-old iron wheels and insulated with sheeps' wool, Rebecca provides intimate, cosy and perfectly appointed accommodation, with double bed, small table, 2 fold-up chairs, and under-bed storage. The fully equipped kitchen has a dresser, a two ring gas burner, ship's toaster and locally handmade woodburner which can also be used to heat pans/kettle.
Eco-paints are used throughout; bedding is fairtrade organic cotton with organic merino wool duvet.
The Treebog/Washroom a few metres from the Hut houses a washbasin fed by rainwater, and caters for toilet and simple washing needs. Photo on right and photo down below.
Please note: This is simple accommodation - no electricity, hot running water or fridge. Food can be kept cold in an icebox with icepacks from our freezer, or in the stream. Drinking /cooking water is from own spring via an outdoor tap, or bottled spring water if you prefer (provided). Bathing can be done in the Treebog using kettle-heated water or you might like to take a bath in the stream. Lighting is LED battery lanterns, torches, safe candles.
Included in the price: Bedding, towels, eco washing products, recycled looroll, gas, one basket of logs. Also provided are spare blankets, hotties, picnic blanket, bottled spring water, books, playing cards, reading lights, goesunder. We live down a track off a country lane - rural, peaceful and private: Rebecca has her own private patio area and a firepit looking out over stream and mountain.
Parking: close. We are happy to meet you off a train and help with shopping if you wish to come car-free.
