Welcome to Potterings, a self-contained one-bedroom cottage located within the beautiful landscape of The National Trust Stourhead Estate. Enjoying a wonderful unspoiled position within the village of Kilmington Common, Potterings is situated at the end of a quiet no through lane. Potterings is a mid terrace estate workers cottage built by Henry Hoare II during the early 18th Century.  
  • The Common was used by sheep drovers who would stay overnight on their market journey to the famous City of Salisbury.
  • With Longleat Safari Park only 8 minutes away, and the famous Georgian City of Bath 40 minutes, you will be well positioned to enjoy these great days out.
  • On your doorstep you will be delighted with the famous National Trust Stourhead House, gardens and lakes giving you a memorable day of exploration throughout the estate.
  • Jill and Ian Cade welcome you to Potterings. Living close by we will be delighted to offer you any help or information you might need to make this Stourhead adventure a holiday to remember.
  • We have recently refurbished the cottage to provide accommodation for two people offering a warm and cosy cottage experience.
  • Pets are welcome (By arrangement) and smokers are asked to smoke outside.

Accommodation  

  • The large open plan double bedroom over looks three colourful cottage gardens with the chalk hills of Whitesheet Down framing a peaceful countryside. The en suite provides a large shower and forms part of the relaxing bedroom with the main bathroom being on the ground floor.
  • The kitchen Aga offers a homely welcome as you enter the cottage, although an electric hob can be used should Aga cooking be unfamiliar territory. The kitchen is well appointed.
  • The lounge has a character fireplace with a crackling wood burner for that peaceful evening together.
  • Outside you will find plenty of parking and the rear garden offers you a delightful south facing private patio to enjoy the first of many sunny breakfasts whilst you plan the coming day.
