The Millhouse forms the upper part of an old mill. It has bright spacious rooms, panoramic views and its own sunny, secluded garden. Pirnmill is a small village on the tranquil NW coast of Arran, but has a general store, post office and restaurant less than 2 minutes' walk from the Millhouse. The garden gate leads directly to the woods, fields and hills beyond. Seals, red squirrels, red deer, sea-birds (including eiders, herons, red-throated divers etc) and birds of prey (including golden eagles, hen harriers and buzzards) can be seen in this corner of the island.
Accommodation The original Millhouse was built about 1742, but has recently been renovated.
The ground floor includes a very spacious lounge (with a multifuel stove as well as ample alternative heating) providing outstanding views across Kilbrannan Sound towards the Mull of Kintyre.
There is also a large, recently constructed and very well-equipped kitchen extension (with dining table) into the garden, and a bathroom with a shower over the bath.
The upper floor, reached via a fairly steep stair, consists of a double bedroom (with ensuite toilet) and two single bedrooms. The single bedrooms are separated by a sliding partition which can be opened to create a twin room.
All the rooms are very bright with beautiful views, and magnificent sunsets are common.
The enclosed garden, accessed directly from both kitchen and main doors, has a built-in barbecue and wooden furniture. A play area for children and a shingle beach (sandy at low tide) are close by.
The Millhouse is reached via a rough uphill track from the road. Car parking is just outside the garden gate.
