A-listed Pilrig House (built 1638) is an historic 17th-century Scottish townhouse, uniquely located in a tranquil park, yet it is only a short stroll, or 5 mins by bus, to Edinburgh's city centre and all the main attractions. The house has a fascinating history - it was owned by the same family, the Balfours, for hundreds of years. Robert Louis Stevenson's grandfather, James Balfour, lived here, and RLS visited and played in the gardens as a child. He mentions Pilrig House in many of his novels, eg Kidnapped and Catriona.
Debbie and Philip, the owners, let three luxurious, 4-star graded apartments in Pilrig House; offering extremely comfortable, immaculately clean and beautifully furnished accommodation. All apartments are non-smoking, offer park and garden views, and, rare for Edinburgh, each apartment has an allocated (free) parking space in a private car park to the rear of the house.
