Here we wish to bring you a bit more detail about Peedie Whites Cottage, bookings & inquiries as well as noting some island events & attractions.

We have previously been quite reserved when describing Peedie Whites Cottage as when new to the business we were afraid of causing an element of disappointment. However with 100% customer satisfaction so far we feel that we have earned the confidence to boast, just a little, about what we actually have to offer.
Peedie Whites Cottage along with the rest of Balfour Village was originally built to house workers for the Balfour Estate and, although not large, its design allows a generous living space and sleeps up to 4 people comfortably with en-suite facilities.
The pristine condition of Peedie Whites Cottage and the high quality standards have been well acknowledged and appreciated by our guests so far.
We wish to assure you that with emphasis on cleanliness and comfort with a touch of luxury you are getting excellent value for a premium service.

Just one quote from previous guests "the best standard of this type of accommodation we have ever stayed in". We took this as a great compliment as these people frequently go self-catering.

Some people may find island life as a bit of a challenge but take it from us(locals born & bred) the positives by far outweigh the negatives. On your stay we hope that you enjoy the experience of sampling some of the flavour
of island life.

Resident Doctor on the Island.

Small sandy beaches, rocky shores and the craigs (cliffs) on the east coast surround this green fertile island.

Nightlife here consists of a few island events (island population about 300), the odd heron coming ashore for his supper or maybe a passing boat. However private hire boats  are available should you wish to attend events
in town (Kirkwall) or have an evening out - weather permitting of course.

Explore the island of Shapinsay as well as the Mainland of Orkney from Peedie Whites Cottage. A two minute walk to the ferry to Kirkwall makes this an ideal base.  Just a 25min ferry trip and you can visit attractions on the Mainland of Orkney or perhaps go shopping and return to the island the same day.
The ferry does 5 return sailings per day. Weekdays starting 07.30am from Shapinsay with the last sailing from Kirkwall at 5.30pm. In summertime there are later sailings on Saturday & Sunday.

For inquiries please email or phone, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
Friday is our preferred changeover day.
A £100 deposit (per week booked) will secure your booking.
The balance is due two weeks before the start of your holiday. If you have to cancel within four weeks of your arrival date, then the deposit will only be refunded if we manage to let out the cottage for the duration of the
dates you originally booked.
Anything you wish to ask about please feel free to email or phone and wešll do our best to help.
