Wolsingham village offers a good range of small shops, pubs and recreational facilities, including an indoor heated swimming pool. Pasture Cottage is well situated to explore County Durham and Northumberland. Durham Cathedral & City (20 minutes), Darlington (35 minutes), Newcastle-upon-Tyne (45 minutes) and The Metro Centre are all within easy access for shopping, entertainment, dining, theatres and the Sage Music Centre.

Visit Hadrian's Wall, museums at Beamish and Killhope, the magnificent High Force waterfall in Teesdale or the inspiring North East coastline with its ancient castles and glorious beaches. Alternatively, discover the gardens at Alnwick or Eggleston; enjoy a day of culture at the Bowes Museum and looking at the Francisco de Zurburan paintings in Auckland Castle or experience family fun at Diggerland and Hall Hill Farm.
