This little cottage for just two people is blessed with a superb site in a tranquil hamlet well off the beaten track yet only 6 miles from Ambleside and 4 from Ullswater. Hartsop is an excellent place for walkers as it is easy to take paths into widely diverse landscapes each day of the week without having to use a car.
Accommodation South-facing and with splendid mountain views, the cottage is completely private with its own gated parking. It was once the barn of my 400 year old listed farmhouse.
Downstairs the kitchen/dining room is fitted with electric cooker, microwave and, we hope, all you need for cooking.
The bathroom, also downstairs, has a full size bath with shower over it.
Upstairs the beamed room has twin beds and a sitting area looking south over the village towards Dove Crag.
Nightstore heaters provide background warmth.
Many extra services are provided by the on-site owner who also likes guests to enjoy the beautiful one-acre garden behind the cottage where there are several seats. The garden has been featured in cards, calendars, books, magazines and television programmes. It is not surprising that many visitors return to such a lovely spot year after year.
