Ed and I stayed at Old Town Farm Cottage number 1 and it was just beautiful. So relaxing, we were made to feel very welcome and at home. We would recommend this staying here to our friends and would happily return.

“A true gem - everything we hoped for and more!”

We booked a week at the cottage as a base for a family holiday with my husband and 2 year old prior to going to a wedding at Woodhill Hall which is conveniently a few minutes up the road (easy walk on the roadside if you choose as long as you're not in heels!).

We were treated to fresh eggs and cake on arrival and the cottage was perfectly presented, modern and clean but also warm and welcoming. For me the photos don't do the cottage justice and each room felt bigger than expected.

Kate is a brilliant host, there for anything you need but quietly so. The cottage is well stocked with all the local info on things to do and places to go. We both treated ourselves to a Tai Massage with Kate. I'm a total convert and it was the best massage I have ever had in the idyllic setting of her garden studio.

We found it well placed for day trips out to Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Bamburgh Castle and beach and Kielder Water Bird of Prey Centre.

The cottage itself offers a well fenced garden perfect for little ones to let of steam in safely. I even enjoyed doing the washing up as the view of lambs, fields and hills from the kitchen window is stunning.

“Amazing. Wonderful host.”

We stayed during a week of snow - so heavy at the end that we had to come back and stay another night after attempting to set off for home! Very picturesque views, and good amenities in the village. Beautiful home-made cake awaiting us on arrival, and everything that we could need in a spotless cottage. Kate was a great host, even helping us to dig the car out of the snow this morning and push it, along with 2 of the farmers! We even indulged in a massage each, which was lovely. It felt like a safe environment for our toddler to run around outdoors, and do a spot of sledging! We would definitely stay here again!

“Perfect Getaway”

I was apprehensive that Old Town Farm Cottage would not be as good in reality as it was on the website; I was completely wrong! Everything was perfect and just that little bit better than we would have thought possible. Kate was the perfect hostess, unobtrusive yet available, and to be greeted with a lovely cake and bottle of wine (neither of which lasted long!) was, well, the icing on the cake. The area itself is beautiful, wild, welcoming, and the stars are lower than anywhere I've ever seen. We had a wonderful week and, although distance means we will not be frequent visitors, we hope to return one day.

“Lovely countryside getaway”

My husband and I were looking for a last-minute, mid-week getaway and are glad that we found Old Town Farm Cottage! I was specifically looking for a cottage with lovely views, a fireplace, and near a good spot for cycling. The cottage is nestled near Otterburn and has a great outlook from both sides of the cottage, over hills and fields. We also appreciated that Kate had the fire going in the fireplace when we arrived, and so we were able to settle in right away, cozily reading our books as the rain drizzled outside. We were also able to make outings to Holy Island and Lindisfarne Castle (about a 90 minute drive) and to Kielder Water Reservoir for a day of cycling (less than 30 minute drive). Those are only a few of the many options we had for walks and sightseeing! We would love to go back and explore the area more.

Had a few days stay in Northumberland (before the floods). Friendly and welcoming good to be able to take Frank the dog with us without a fuss. Just the place for a quiet break to unwind everything very clean and tidy enjoyed our stay.

Lovely cottage, warm fire, wine and carrot cake were very welcome on our arrival. Kate very helpful owner, fantastic bird garden, lovely comfortable bed and plenty of hot water. Will definitely be returning to this haven in northumberland.
Oh dear I have a problem because I don't want everyone to know about this little gem of a holiday cottage as I'd like it to be available every time I return! The warm welcome, log fire, lovely rooms, the welcome pack which included a yummy cake, bottle of wine and fresh flowers to greet me. Warm welcome extended to my well behaved dog too :) All beautifully located in fabulous countryside. A memorable holiday and I'm going back asap.

A very warm welcome from Kate to a beautiful and well equipped cottage. Great farm setting with lovely views, the location afforded easy access to an abundance of wonderful walks and places of interest. A trip to the Farne Islands is a must. Marvellous attention to detail, particularly the fresh eggs and cream tea which greeted us on arrival !! We would definately recommend it.

Kate's welcome, warmth and unobtrusive hospitality was the hallmark of our wonderful break. Her cottage, beautifully furnished, immaculate and supplied with every conceivable need looks out on to amazing views. We even enjoyed breakfast on the patio under the umbrella in the wonderful front garden on one sunny morning! If a base to explore the beauties and fascinations and wild countryside and coast of Northumberland is what you are looking for,you simply will not improve upon Old Farm Town Cottage.

We had a very peaceful and happy 10 day stay at Old Town Farm which is very well equipped and comfortable. Kate the owner is very friendly and helpful and we arrived to a home made cake and bottle of wine on the kitchen table and the kitchen cupboards had all the essentials including pasta and a jar of sauce for first evening meal. The beds were comfortable, the water hot and the broadband really quick. 10/10
