Built in 1946 as the village post office, this cosy cottage has been refurbished to a high standard and provides an ideal island retreat. Take up the optional offer of a welcome pack containing champagne, chocolates and flowers for a perfect romantic break with your loved one.

Tolsta Chaolais is one of the prettiest villages on the island, nestled between a sea loch, Loch Roag, and a freshwater loch, Loch a'Bhaile. It is set off the main road, where children, pets and livestock roam freely.

This traditional crofting village provides an ideal base for immersing in island life and touring Lewis & Harris. Stornoway is under 20 miles away. You needn't go far for things to do - within ten miles of The Old Post Office are:
  • Callanish Stones
  • Dun Carloway Broch
  • Garenin Blackhouse Village
  • Dalmore & Dalbeg Beaches
  • Doune Braes Hotel
  • Hebridean Soap Factory
  • Westside Coastal Walk
  • Shawbost Swimming Pool
  • Loch na Muilne RSPB Reserve
  • Shooting & Fishing Estates
  • Callanish Shop & Post Office
Birdwatchers will marvel at the healthy populations of golden and white tailed eagles, divers, waders and corncrakes. Walkers will appreciate the hills of Harris & Uig, within an hours drive. Day trips are available to incredible offshore islands, including St Kilda, where you can experience some of the largest sea bird colonies in the world and, if you're lucky, watch dolphins, whales and sharks.

Ideally situated for surfing/windsurfing/kitesurfing holidays, conveniently located near some of the best surf breaks in Scotland. Instructors available locally.

If you'd rather just relax, why not sit in front of the stove with the local nature and history books and soak in the atmosphere.
