Nestling in the peaceful rural outskirts of the ancient Royal Burgh of Tain, this cosy cottage is an ideal base for exploring the Northern Highlands. Built in 1850, it was the laundry in the walled courtyard of the first Poorhouse to be built after the Scottish Poor law Act of 1845. - This beautiful, unspoiled area has interests to suit all tastes, including lovely woodland walks bursting with highland wildlife, angling, miles of sandy beaches, bird reserves, quaint seaboard fishing villages and Scottish New Year festivities.
 - There is a plethora of links golf courses, from Old Tom Morris designed Tain, Royal Dornoch (10 mins) and Golspie, to James Braid designed Brora and Fortrose.
- Local visitor attractions include Tain's historic trail, the famous Glenmorangie distillery, Anta pottery/ textiles, Tain pottery and cruises to see Bottlenose Dolphins.
- To the north there is Dunrobin Castle associated with the Highland Clearances; the Falls of Shin abounding with leaping salmon and the North coastline with miles of deserted silver sands.
- The new highland city of Inverness is 35 mins away with an excellent shopping centre (for that little spree!) and the new Culloden visitor centre, featuring the history of the Jacobites. A few miles south there is Urquhart castle on the shores of Loch Ness where you might spot our famous monster!
- The spectacular, mountainous west coast is an excellent day out.
