 Welcome to North Sharperton Farm's stone built holiday cottage for 5 people. As part of a working farm, you are free to meet the animals and explore the spectacular scenery, this is a perfect place to stay for families and walkers. - We are situated in the foothills of the Cheviot Hills near the attractive market town of Rothbury in Coquetdale, Northumberland, and we are on the edge of the beautiful Northumberland National Park.
- Perfect for outdoor activities such as walking, hiking, cycling, horse riding, fishing, bird watching, wildlife, golf or just relaxing and de-stressing.
Northumberland has a wealth of castles and stately homes, and down by the seaside (30 to 40 minutes by car) the Northumberland Heritage Coast has some of the most wonderful sandy beaches in Britain. Accommodation A large spacious kitchen and sitting/dining room, complete with open fire in a sandstone inglenook. 3 Bedrooms - 1 twin, 1 small double and 1 small single. Bathroom with 3 piece suite, electric shower and shaving point. Facilities Electric cooker and microwave. Fridge/Freezer and coffee cafetiere. Kettle and toaster. Automatic washing machine and Drier. Iron and ironing board. Colour TV, and DVD. Radio / CD player. High chair, cot and stair gate. Private water supply. Linen and towels available if required. Well behaved children and pets welcome. Oil fired central heating am and pm (4 hours a day included with the rent, with additional at cost). Coal and logs supplied at cost. Washing line in farmhouse garden. Electricity included with rent unless the guests opt to use their own electric fire then there will be a metre charge. Parking available for two vehicles by cottage door. Other parking available by request. Local Amenities The village of Rothbury has excellent grocery shops, pubs/bar meals and tea rooms, and several stores to cater for all your holiday requirements. Around the Farm Children are encouraged to meet the animals and to enjoy long walks amongst the wonderful scenery. Lambing time is a special treat for families and we enjoy giving the children hands-on farm and country experiences.
Rothbury in Coquetdale
Situated in the foothills of the Cheviots in the Coquetdale valley and adjacent to Northumberland National Park, this comfortable farm cottage lies in a peaceful, rural location with views of the beautiful Coquet Valley.
The surrounding countryside is perfect for walking, cycling, horse riding, mountain hiking, golf and fishing. We are only 7 miles from the attractive market town of Rothbury which has a swimming pool, cycle hire and Rothbury Golf Club. In nearby Elsdon you can enjoy yourselves at Redesdale Riding and Activity Centre.
The cottage makes an ideal base for a family wishing to explore both the inland and coastal areas of Northumberland. The seaside lies just 20 miles away with long stretches of sandy beaches. Take a day trip to the enigmatic Holy Island of Lindisfarne, the birthplace of christianity in England, or a boat trip to see the wildlife on the Farne Islands. Kielder Water offers watersports and forest trails and there is the World Heritage site of Hadrian's Wall, along with many castles, ancient monuments, National Trust and English Heritage properties scattered throughout this largely unexplored region. Visit the fabulous Alnwick Gardens recently created at Alnwick Castle.
