Nestled at the base of the Howgill fells and close to the source of the River Lune, the 3 cottages have been skilfully converted from a fine stone barn and are attached to our 17th century farmhouse. We are completely surrounded by open fields and moorland, but enjoy easy access from an 'A' class road and the M6.
All the cottages enjoy panoramic views and make an excellent base for exploring both the Northern Dales and the Lake District. The old county of Westmorland is rich in unspoilt villages surrounded by spectacular hills, lakes and tarns.
The Carlisle to Settle railway, Hadrian's Wall or Kendal's museums, sports and leisure centres are easily reached by car. The Appleby Gypsy Fair is held in June and sheep dog trials and agricultural shows are a feature of local life.
The cottages are completely self contained, and are comfortably furnished and decorated with an attractive blend of old and new:
NISTHOUSE sleeps 2 Ground floor: Entrance hall, twin bedroom and shower room.Staircase leading to first floor living room with kitchen area.
CURLEW sleeps 4 Lower level of barn. Twin bedroom with wash-hand basin and shaver point. Double bedroom, shower room. Open plan living room with kitchen and dining area.
HOWGILL sleeps 4 Upper level of barn with entrance hall, double bedroom, twin bedroom with wash-hand basin and shaver point. Shower room. Open plan living room with kitchen and dining area.
Miscellaneous: All kitchens have full size electric cookers, refrigerators and a comprehensive range of cookware, glassware, crockery and cutlery.
Cottages have digital TV/DVD and a selection of books and games.
Electricity and Heating: The cottages are heated throughout with night storage heaters. They also have radiant electric fires in the living rooms and electric blankets for the beds. Electricity is included in the rent.
Linen: Bed linen and tea towels are provided. The beds are made up for your arrival with duvets. Personal towels are provided.
Our large garden is available for your enjoyment and hosts a large variety of wild life, red squirrels, wood peckers etc. We provide a utility room with washing machine and dryer, and pay telephone. There is parking for two cars per cottage.
Ravenstonedale has three pubs serving good bar meals. Comprehensive shopping facilities are available in Kirkby Stephen 6 miles away.
