 Mortimers Barn is a converted 15th century thatched barn 2 miles from Lavenham, adjacent to which is the single-storey cottage (sleeps 2 people). The recently refurbished accommodation was the threshing barn's cartlodge. It now offers 4 Star comfortable facilities with an eclectic mix of antiques and modern furniture, and makes a cosy retreat at any time of year or a base from which to explore. Guests are welcome to enjoy the 3 acre gardens and to use the hard tennis court or outdoor swimming pool. There are plenty of livestock to meet too: sheep, ducks and chickens (eggs from which are included in a welcome pack on arrival). 
Location - The accommodation is in a beautiful rural area close to many famous villages: Lavenham 2 miles, Long Melford 7 miles and historic Bury St Edmunds 10 miles.
- It is on the South Suffolk cycle route and Constable Country is close.
- Further afield there is the home of horseracing at Newmarket (45 minutes by car).
- Cambridge or the coast are both an hour's drive away.
- The friendly owners are on hand to give advice and information but discreet enough to leave you alone.
Notes The pond and swimming pool make the accommodation unsuitable for children, but 'babes in arms' are welcome and a travel cot and high chair are available. The cottage can be booked for weeks, weekends or mid-week breaks.
