A newly converted single storey barn in the heart of our organic dairy farm, Moorhen Cottage is ideal for birdwatchers and lovers of wildlife. There is a large garden and terrace with a stunning view, a wildlife pond, and a 'ha-ha' (with a 5 foot drop!) at the bottom of the garden. You can get tasty meals 200 metres away at the Lamb Inn in the hamlet of Wartling, before sauntering back to the cosy cottage. Underfloor heating and solar hot water will ensure you are comfortable in all weathers.
Spacious barn style living/dining/kitchen with lovely view over garden and across Pevensey marshes to the South Downs.
Fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher.
Spacious bedroom with superking size bed, can be arranged as twin beds if requested in advance.
Ample parking area beside cottage.
Bed linen and towels provided.
Local attractions include Herstmonceux and Pevensey Castles, we are 5 miles from the coast, near the historic town of Battle and within easy reach of the newly designated South Downs National park, Rye Harbour and other wildlife sites.
Note The cottage is not suitable for children due to the ha-ha and pond, but dogs are welcome if booked in advance - strict 'doggie rules' apply!
Activities on the working farm vary according to the time of year - in winter our herd of organic cows will be in the barns nearby, in summer they graze the fields and you may see them coming in for milking, or tractors bringing in the hay or silage crops. Guests are welcome to explore the farm, we provide several pairs of wellington boots but if you have your own it's a good idea to bring them!, see our website (click website button above).
