Location  

• Mint Cottage is in walking distance of the centre of the historic town and port of peaceful Kirkcudbright. Hugging the banks of the Dee, Kirkcudbright has a quaint harbour and a charming medley of simple brick cottages, Georgian Villas and Victorian town houses.
• The town is an artist's colony, which has flourished from the late 19th Century and Mint Cottage and the surrounding town houses were occupied by many famous Scottish Colourists, the story of which is told in the nearby Tolbooth Art Centre where their work can also be seen.
• Nearby are several art galleries and museums, which exhibit local art and tell the local history.
• Set on the edge of the Galloway hills, and on the estuary of the Dee, Kirkcudbright has many activities set in unspoiled scenery. These range from water sports and golf to bird watching and horse riding in the Galloway Forest Park.
• As well as nearby beaches, Kirkcudbright has its own swimming pool and at nearby Brighouse Bay another pool with many other children's facilities.
• There are also 31 gold courses ready to welcome you in Dumfries and Galloway.
• Every year Kirkcudbright hosts a Summer Festivities programme from June to late August. This is a varied entertainment from a Jazz Festival to a torchlight Tattoo.
