Mill Cottage is a grade II listed holiday cottage in Briantspuddle on the River Piddle in Dorset's Hardy country about 8 miles East of Dorchester. The village is in the Purbeck rural conservation area and is stunningly beautiful. The cottage lies at the end of an unmade track on the edge of the village in about an acre with about 80 yards of river frontage. Its location and tasteful restoration, preserving ancient history with modern comfort are its major charms. There are three bedrooms upstairs, all doubles and all ensuite. One of them can be made into a twin on request.
Downstairs there is one double/or twin with a walk in wet room and one twin in the studio which is ensuite. These rooms are suitable for those with disabled needs or those wishing to avoid stairs.
The sitting room has a large working inglenook fire and seating for ten.
The hall has seating for ten, a large flat screen plasma TV, DVD and Wi-Fi broadband internet access.
The dining room has seating for ten and french doors opening onto the riverside terrace.
The spacious well planned kitchen with cathederal roof has three electrically operated skylights for controllable ventilation. It has an oil fired Aga as well as conventional electric oven and hobs, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and 32 bottle wine cooler.
French doors open onto both the riverside and front terraces for alfresco dining and barbecues. A gas barbeque is available for guests use. There is a Balinese Gazebo with traditional Dorset Thatch overlooking the Piddle. It has seating for 10, a fixed table and 13amp sockets plus chandelier.
Note:
Being in a conservation area, the river is unfenced and not toddler friendly. Children over 5 years are welcome, and of course, babes in arms.
