The Maerdy is the perfect choice for those seeking genuine comfort and the peace and tranquility of the countryside. Overlooking peaceful pastureland, the grounds offer plenty of space for children to play safely, and walks straight from the cottage doors provide bounties in abundance for country lovers, bird watchers and serious hikers alike.
 Situated in one of the loveliest valleys in Wales and surrounded by woods and farmland whose titles date from the 14th century, The Maerdy was once the home farm of the historic Robert Peel Estate in the ancient district of Dinefwr.
Catering: Mrs Jones has been providing evening meals from her comprehensive menu for 20 years using local and mainly organic ingredients.

The 300-year-old farmhouse and its original stone buildings have been beautifully converted into five cottages sleeping between 3 to 8 people. Two of the cottages are totally wheelchair accessible. These cottages enjoy a tranquil setting amongst mature and natural wooded gardens with a stream. Furnished with many antiques and well equipped throughout, they are warm, welcoming and cosy retreats ideal for a holiday at any time of the year.

Stable Cottage
Set slightly above in its own secluded garden, this delightful conversion with its original 15th century arched windows and lofted ceiling is an ideal family cottage. No steps or stairs give level wheelchair access. (Sleeps 7 in 3 bedrooms each with washbasins).
The Cottage (2 photos below)
The smallest of the cottages nestles in its own private corner. This is the perfect hide away at any time of the year. 2 bedrooms and spacious living room with cosy log burner. Full kitchen.
 
The Farmhouse (2photos below)
A beautifully renovated 16th century farmhouse. Impressive beams, oak panelling and a huge inglenook fireplace with its original bread oven have all been retained. It is spacious and interesting. It can sleep 10 in 4 bedrooms, with 3 bathrooms.
 
Barn Cottage
This cottage has a clever mix of modern facilities and antique furniture, which makes it very comfortable whilst retaining typical barn features. Sleeps 7 + 1 with 4 bedrooms. 3 bathrooms. 1 ensuite bedroom on ground floor.
This cottage is made available to couples as a ground floor flat outside school holiday weeks at half the rental. The 1st Floor of Valley View is also offered.
Valley View (photos below)
The most recently converted, its special features of an open plan floor enables groups of up to 24 to dine together. Four double bedrooms, 2 up and 2 down, with 3 bathrooms, accommodating 8 comfortably. These 2 cottages are ideal for larger groups - up to 18 and together with the Farmhouse a total of 28 can be accommodated.
 
Dan y Cefn
 Sleeps 5 - 6.
Dan y Cefn enjoys stunning views. It overlooks the Maerdy Cottages from the other side of the valley (a 4 minute drive). It is a traditional stone-built cottage with 3 bedrooms, a double, a twin and a single with a new bathroom with WC, basin, bath and over shower. A downstairs study converts if needed. Immediately adjacent to my cottage but quite separate, visitors can enjoy the total quiet, the beautiful garden and easy access to my catering!

The rental price is inclusive of bed linen, kitchen & table linen, soaps & cleansers. Logs for the fire at cost. Z-beds available.
There is a charge for gas and electricity.
