Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty - designated as a National Scenic Area in Scotland - Machrie Farm Cottage sits about half a mile inland from Machrie Bay. It is surrounded on two sides by trees and looks out over Machrie Farm to the south-west and to the sea and the hills of Kintyre beyond. Perfect for peace and quiet and a great place to get away from it all.
  • A walkers heaven, there are miles of paths to follow, mountains to scale (Goat Fell being the highest at 2866 feet) with a great range of flaura, fauna and wildlife to be taken in en route - amongst other things the unique Arran whitebeam (Sorbus arranensis), fascinating birdlife and red deer seen in their natural habitat.
  • Also a golfers paradise - there are two courses within easy reach, a nine hole course just half a mile away and a rare and challenging twelve hole links course within ten minutes drive, as well as five other courses around the island.
  • Tennis, squash and swimming are all available nearby, as well as pony trekking. The outdoor activity centre at Balmichael is again within  easy reach, where there is a golf driving range, quad centre, archery and adventure playground to pick just a few of the many things on offer.
  • So, there is no shortage of things to do to keep both children and adults entertained but, of course, equally one can just enjoy the tranquillity, beauty and peace and simply relax.
  • Trout and salmon fishing may be available by separate negotiation with the Estate Office.
  • Local shops are roughly four miles away in both directions and the main town centre, where the ferry arrives, is only ten miles away where there are a plenty of shops and a large supermarket.
